QuiKleen Absorbent is an inert, inorganic, non-biodegradable blend of minerals. Its technical name is Amorphous Volcanic Alumina Silica (CAS# 93763-70-3)
QuiKleen Absorbent works by means known as “Silica Encapsulation”. The absorbed liquid actually becomes part of the silica molecule. QuiKleen has a tremendous surface area and its natural surface tension optimizes absorption.
The EPA recognizes Amorphous Alumina Silicate, and thus QuiKleen Absorbent as a total encapsulate, meaning it will not release absorbed liquids.
QuiKleen satisfies the EPA’s final rule on “Hazardous Waste Management Liquid in Landfills” as published in the Federal Register, volume 57, no 233 that took effect in 1993. This action is covered under 40CFT parts 260, 264, 265 and 271 and states only non-biodegradable absorbents may be dumped in public landfills. QuiKleen is non-biodegradable and qualifies under this ruling.
